Originally a Mediaeval hall house, Chancery Cottage is a delightful thatched cottage dating back to 1350, situated on the green in the pretty Dartmoor village of North Bovey.
Grade II listed, the Cottage has been tastefully renovated, with lots of attention to detail making it a real home from home. Entered through an ancient thatched porch and passageway, the lounge/dining room has views across the village green to the front and onto the secluded garden at the back. The inglenook fireplace (with an interesting nook that might have been a priest’s hole!) has a log burning stove. The galley kitchen features granite worktops and solid wood units and is fully equipped to ensure a comfortable stay.
Upstairs, the two bedrooms have lots of traditional features, with crook beams, stripped floor boards, window seats and pretty views. The bathroom is very well appointed, fully tiled, with a bath and fixed shower overhead.
Outside, the front garden is small and sheltered and accessed by a gate. The entrance passageway leads to the back garden and makes a useful shelter for bikes, buggies or boots.
